And that brings us to those little spirals, the double helix.
If we add the base pairs it looks a lot like Jacob's Ladder:
Just for fun and to make some associations to familiar things, imagine just one helix without the base pairs, turned sideways:
Now, you know how railroad tracks look as they move away from you?
Imagine if you were microscopic and could observe one strand of the double helix, without the base pairs, as it extends off in the distance:
It might look like some kind of time tunnel. And maybe it is.
